Business Women’s Day is a day dedicated to recognizing the contributions women have made to the business world.
The roots of this special holiday date back to World War II when women filled the empty shoes in the work force. Upon the return of our soldiers, women were reluctant to return to their traditional roles in the household and became a permanent part of the work force. Since this time women have greatly contributed to the work force and forever changed the expectations of women in society.
The American Business Women’s Association(ABWA) was founded on September 22, 1949. The first Business Women’s Day was celebrated in 1982. The next year President Ronald Reagan proclaimed September 22 as Business Women’s Day.
So ladies, raise your glasses and cheers to us for all that we have accomplished. Keep your heads high, your standards higher, and continue your hard work.
